Abstract
The context in which we live, whether in terms of the physical and social aspects of the neighborhood in which we live, or the characteristics of the dwelling we occupy, can give rise to risks in terms of mental health and addictions. A fortiori, the lack of stable housing, which can take many forms and is tending to increase in large cities in France as in other countries, is both a cause and a consequence of mental health difficulties - studies showing very high proportions of people living with psychiatric disorders. What are the most psychologically important aspects of living space and housing? Is it possible to build environments conducive to mental health? What do they look like? Can access to housing have positive effects on mental health? The lecture will be followed by a seminar dealing specifically with the mental health of homeless people - survey methodologies for assessing the frequency of disorders, key readings, as well as existing housing access interventions and their effects in terms of mental health.
